Wednesday evening saw the launch of The Brick Lane Gallery‘s Pop-up Christmas Affordable Art show. I was lucky enough to be included in the TRULY STAGGERING range of excellent emerging and established Artists represented in this fine collection so, on Wednesday afternoon I wrapped up warm and jumped on a train in to town to attend the opening party.
The show is completely free for participants, a rare opportunity to exhibit and sell work from a prominent London Arts venue with no commission (virtually unheard of!) so 100% 0f proceeds from sales go directly to the Artist. The range of mediums is also very impressive. From INCREDIBLE paper cut work upstairs to beautiful photographic nudes and painted chipboard creations downstairs, painstakingly peeled back layer by layer to create bold but delicate pop imagery. Really very beautiful. I wish I’d taken more pictures but the place was RAMMED from start to finish which made this tricky and even when you can get to something to take a picture, photos rarely do these things justice. You really must just go and see for yourself.
“..prints, posters, photographs, original illustrations, sculptures, and cards, to be presented as a salon-style exhibition for the Christmas shoppers. All artworks are by selected artists and priced between £150 or less; thus it’s the perfect opportunity to get remarkable gifts for family and friends.”
“..a selection of some of the best emerging talent from the UK, US, and Europe..”
The sale and the exhibition has now been extended to run between 12 December 2012 and the 6 January 2013 at the Brick Lane Gallery, 196 Brick Lane, London.
